Where it all began...
Hi, I’m Helen, the founder of Bessie & Mabel. This venture grew from my years of creating handmade cards for family and friends, driven by my lifelong passion for creativity.

In 2020, I began experimenting with cutting intricate designs from card stock, and it opened up a world of possibilities. From there, my love for card-making truly blossomed. There's something special about sending a thoughtful, handwritten card; whether for a birthday, a celebration, or simply to let someone know you’re thinking of them. In today’s digital age, receiving a physical card feels even more meaningful and personal.

After living in London, I now find myself happily settled along the beautiful Sussex coast.
Who are Bessie & Mabel?
Well, Bessie was my Nan - a truly amazing woman who played a huge role in my life growing up. She was the kindest soul and loved by everyone who knew her. She was unknowingly hilarious and had an ease and warmth about her that made you feel welcomed and loved. Her life was hard at times and despite this she never complained. She had a twinkle in her eye and the most amazing smile.

And Mabel? She was my husband's Great Aunt and from the same generation as my Nan. From all the stories I have heard, she was a mischievous soul who adored her Great Nephew and was a significant part of his life. Like Bessie, she had a twinkle in her eye and was always smiling. She was loved so much by my husband that he named his daughter after her.

Strangely enough they lived within a couple of miles from each other in West London and although they never met, I feel sure they would have gotten on like a house on fire.
